Ram raiders have smashed their way into a shop selling erotic clothing and other items in the centre of Swansea.

They drove a car into the Ann Summers store in Whitewalls around 0525 BST destroying the shop front.

About 40 minutes earlier a stolen car ploughed through the main doors of the Aberafan Shopping Centre at Port Talbot and into the front of a JD Sports shop.

South Wales Police said two men aged 27 and 23 had been arrested and were being questioned about both incidents.

Officers said a Ford Focus stolen from a house in Sandown Road, Sandfields, at midday on Sunday was used in the Port Talbot raid.

It was recovered in the Penlan area of Swansea.

Detective Sergeant Mark Jones of Neath Port Talbot CID said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle from the time it was stolen on Sunday until it was recovered on Wednesday morning to come forward with information."

Of the Port Talbot raid he added: ""This is a very serious incident and a dedicated team of detectives are working on the investigation."

Anyone with information should contact police on 01792 456999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
