The police raid took place on Thursday

Police have seized around 4,000 cannabis plants with a street value estimated at between £740,000 and £900,000 during a raid.

Officers used a search warrant to enter a property at Cwmamman Road, Garnant, near Ammanford in Carmarthenshire.

Two men from Ilford were charged with the production of cannabis. Llanelli magistrates remanded them in custody.

Chief Inspector Steve Griffiths of Dyfed-Powys Police described the operation as "a major success".

He said: "Like all other towns and cities in the UK, drugs are a major issue the police in Carmarthenshire face.

"We are determined to target those involved in producing and distributing drugs for profit and this incident is a major success for us."
