Heroin warning after two deaths

Police in Swansea are warning heroin users to take particular care after a spate of overdoses and two suspected deaths in the last few days.

A 44-year-old man was found at a house in Waunarlwydd on Thursday and the body of a woman, 26, was found by St David's church in the city centre on Saturday.

Detectives are investigating whether a rogue batch of the class A drug is circulating in the city.

Detective Chief Insp Peter Azzopardi has urged users to seek advice.

"There have been a number of overdoses and two deaths believed to be relating to heroin within the last few days," he said.

"At this present time we are not aware whether this is a bad batch or a different purity than normally.

"There are a number of harm reduction agencies within Swansea, as well as GPs and the drugs and alcohol helpline that are all able to advise on addressing heroin addiction."

The drugs and alcohol helpline is available on 0800 6335588.
