Prayers for balcony fall mother

Rhian Evans
Rhian Evans' condition in hospital is said to be improving

Prayers have been said at a south Wales church for a 22-year-old woman who has been critically injured while holidaying in Spain.

Rhian Evans, from Crynant near Neath, fell eight storeys from her hotel balcony on the Costa Brava.

The Reverend Steve Barnes, Vicar of Dulais Valley, said a special service was also being planned for her.

It is understood there are plans to fly Ms Evans, who was on holiday with her daughter Chloe, three, home to Wales.

Prayers were said for Ms Evans during Sunday's service at St Margaret's Church, Crynant, and Rev Barnes said a special service would be held for next Sunday.

A Foreign Office spokesman has confirmed Ms Evans is "improving" in hospital in Spain.

She was two days into her holiday with Chloe and an aunt when she fell from the balcony last Monday.

It is believed Ms Evans hit a second floor balcony during the fall.

The injured woman's aunt has since returned to the UK with Ms Evans' daughter, with other members of the family flying out to be at her bedside.
