Chevron says production is due to restart at its Pembrokeshire refinery

The Chevron refinery in Pembroke is set to start supplying oil again after a mechanical fault forced it to shut down its production process last month.

The site closed down on 29 April after an electrical fault occurred in its steam plant.

But following the successful restart of the plant, Chevron confirmed production would resume increasing to normal rates over the coming days.

The site employs 1,200 and processes 220,000 barrels of crude oil a day.

In a statement about the reopening Chevron said: "Inspections have continued throughout the process to ensure that production restarts safely."

It added the company had continued to supply its contracted UK and Ireland customers with all grades of fuel through managing its existing stocks.
