Man guilty of attacking pensioner
Annie Williams
Annie Williams lay unconscious for hours after the attack
A burglar has pleaded guilty to attacking a widow at her home.

Nancy Williams, 75, known as Annie, was beaten and left unconscious during the break-in at her home in the Cockett area of Swansea in September.

Steven Nicoll, 27, of Waunarlwydd, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent at the city's crown court and will be sentenced next month.

He also admitted stealing keys and a handbag during the burglary and stealing and setting fire to her car.

The mother-of-two was discovered by a neighbour and taken to the city's Morriston Hospital following the attack on 22 September.

Her son released a picture of her injuries to help detectives with their appeal.

Nicoll was remanded in custody by Judge Christopher Morton.
