Work is starting on a £2.3m 10-pin bowling complex close to the seafront at Aberavon.

It will also include a bar, cafe and children's play area and is expected to be completed by September.

The complex, which will create 30 jobs, is the latest part of Neath Port Talbot Council's plans for the area which have seen a new cinema and restaurants.

Council leader Derek Vaughan said the aim was to make Aberavon seafront a year round tourist attraction.

"Considerable progress has been made and private investment is showing a new commefcial confidence in the area."

Work is also underway on the new £500,000 Burger King on the seafront.

New attractions already include the Apollo Cinema, sandcastle play area, skateboard park, aquasplash, a new piazza, amphitheatre and an ice cream parlour.

Other improvement works have been carried out including new toilets, railings, lighting and seating.
