Man killed over 'trivial banter'
Dean Evans
Mr Evans lived close to the scene of the attack, the court was told
A man was kicked to death after a bit of "trivial banter" turned to violence, a jury at Swansea Crown Court has heard.

Dean Evans, 25, of Pembroke, died in hospital two days after the attack as he walked home from a pub.

Lee Mark Carter, 23, and a 17-year-old juvenile deny murder.

The prosecution allege the youth hit Mr Evans, causing him to fall to the floor and then he and Mr Carter both stamped on his head leaving him unconscious.

Prosecuting, Paul Thomas QC, said Mr Evans and his girlfriend were walking home to Buttemilk Close along Devon Drive in the town in August last year.

They were passed by the youth, who was on a bicycle.

He was making slow progress and Mr Evans asked him if he wanted "a push".

"This led to an exchange of words as they made their way up the incline", added Mr Thomas.

When Mr Carter arrived on the scene the youth, who knew him, hit Mr Evans and then they both attacked him when he was on the ground.

The trial continues.
