A 34-year-old man from Glasgow has appeared before magistrates in Llanelli charged with the murder of a soldier outside a Haverfordwest nightclub.

Mark Donald Campbell is accused of killing L/Cpl Kinnon Arrigo Ragni, 29, from Edinburgh, who was fatally stabbed near Minnies Club early on Thursday.

L/Cpl Ragni was serving in the Pembrokeshire-based 14th Signal Regiment and had served in Iraq.

Police have until late on Sunday to question a second man held in custody.

L/Cpl Ragni's commanding officer Lt Col Steve Vickery said the soldier had "served his country with distinction" and had recently volunteered for another operational tour.

The stabbing happened in Friars Lane at 0215 GMT on Thursday. L/Cpl Ragni was taken to Withybush General Hospital and pronounced dead 25 minutes later.

Dyfed-Powys Police Det Chief Insp Martin Davies said they had identified potential witnesses in Friars Lane from CCTV footage of the area.

He said: "We have two young men in their 20s. Both have light-coloured shirts on and possibly wearing jeans. They were standing in the middle of Friars Lane waiting for a friend.

"That friend approaches them, and he's wearing a hooped shirt and a jacket.

"At some stage they were then spoken to by two men, one wearing combat clothing and another man carrying a Tesco carrier bag.

"We're very interested to find out what that conversation was about."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Haverfordwest police on 0845 3302000.
