Police are questioning a man and woman after an 18-year-old man died in a stabbing in the centre of Llanelli.

Jonathan Williams, from the town, was pronounced dead at Prince Philip hospital on Thursday.

Dyfed-Powys Police have now reopened several roads in the town centre, after sealing off a number of crime scenes on Thursday afternoon.

A woman, aged 41, and man 19, from the Llanelli area have been arrested on suspicion of murder, the force said.

Two teenagers, aged 16 and 15, have been arrested for public order offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Collins said police had received reports of an incident in Cowell Street, involving a "number of people" during which one man suffered fatal injuries.

"A number of people are in custody assisting us with our inquiries. An incident room has been set up at Llanelli police station."

Detectives said several streets were closed off because they were looking at "a number of crime scenes".

John Street and Murray Street were among main town centre roads closed off to the public.

Main roads in the town were reopened on Friday morning but some side lanes were still cordoned off.

Forensic experts were also examining other crime scenes and up to 25 officers were working on the inquiry.

Passer-by Stephen Kwam said: "There was an ambulance with a guy on the floor - he had blood on his chest and running down his leg. There were people crowded around him...the paramedics were attending to him."

Workers who had gone out for lunch, were not being allowed back into offices and shops in the street. Some businesses closed for the afternoon on Thursday.

Police said they wanted to speak to anyone in the area at the time.

Chief Insp Collins added: "This is an isolated incident, not one frequently seen in the area of Dyfed-Powys."

Witnesses are asked to contact the incident room on 01554 772222 or Cimestoppers on 0800555111
