Stomach virus hits valley school
Thermometer (generic)
Youngsters are complaining of sickness and diarrhoea
Around 30 pupils have been kept home due to a stomach virus at a primary school in the Swansea Valley.

Health and council environmental health officials are investigating the cause of the outbreak at Ysgol Cynlais CP School at Ystradgynlais.

Youngsters started to come down with sickness and diarrhoea on Sunday.

A decision not to close the school was taken at a meeting on Wednesday as the outbreak has affected less than a quarter of the pupils there.

Fresh advice was being issued to parents who were told it was important to keep their children away from school for a full 48 hours if they showed symptoms of the bug.

A spokesman for Powys County Council said the authority was working with the local health board to investigate the cause.
