The bishop of St Davids has paid tribute to a 67-year-old retired clergyman found dead in a burnt-out car in Fishguard, west Wales, on Tuesday.
The remains of the Reverend John Hale were discovered by firefighters and Dyfed-Powys Police.
The Right Reverend Carl Cooper said Mr Hale would be greatly missed in the parishes of Burton and Rosemarket, where he served for many years.
Police have said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Bishop Cooper said he would be sending a pastoral note to both parishes to be read out on Sunday.
"I am sure that many people in the diocese of St Davids will wish to join me in expressing their sadness at the news of the Reverend John Hale's death, particularly in such tragic circumstances," he said.
"John exercised a humble, diligent and faithful ministry for many years in the diocese, largely in the parishes of Burton and Rosemarket.
"Since his retirement I am aware of the good work and assistance he has given in the parish of Goodwick.
"His care and friendship were greatly valued by colleagues and parishioners alike.
"His family and friends are up most in my thoughts and prayers at this time."
Emergency services were called to the burning vehicle, a Renault Megane Scenic, on an unclassified road in the Jordanston area shortly after 1300 GMT on Tuesday.
The coroner has been informed about the death, and any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact police.
