Two arrested after road collision

A man and a woman have been arrested after a pedestrian died in a collision with a car.

The incident happened early on Friday on the A465 Heads of the Valleys road at Merthyr Tydfil, close to an Asda supermarket.

South Wales Police said two people had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact the roads policing unit on 029 2063 3438.

The road was closed in both directions following the collision between the A4060 at Dowlais and the A470 at Cefn Coed y Cymmer but reopened later in the morning.
