A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault on a woman at her home in Cardiff. Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the attack, which happened on 3 July in the St Mellons area of the city. Officers have also released an e-fit of another man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident. It is believed the man was in the area in the days leading up to attack. Det Insp Ceri Hughes, who is head of Rumney CID, said: "We are appealing for anyone who noticed the suspect in the areas of Cypress Drive, Willowdene Way, Saffron Drive, Vaindre Lane and Vendre Close, recently, particularly on Thursday, 2 July into the early hours of Friday, 3 July. Scruffy appearance "It is also possible that the man visited local licensed premises during the latter part of last week." The suspect is described as white, with a scruffy appearance, of average build, aged in his 30s, with dark scruffy collar length hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a light-coloured peaked cap which was on back to front and he was also thought to be wearing a dark knee-length jacket. Since the incident was reported to police on Sunday, detectives have been carrying out forensic examination, house-to-house enquiries and studying CCTV. The arrested man has been released on police bail. People who recognise the e-fit or who have information about the incident can contact Rumney CID on 029 2077 4233 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
