Murder charge after man's death

David Roy Barnes was pronounced dead near the New Griffin pub.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man near a pub in the south Wales valleys.

Police said an incident occurred near the New Griffin pub in Beaufort Street, Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, at 0100 BST on Friday.

David Roy Barnes, 20, from Ebbw Vale, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gwent Police said the 23-year-old man appeared before a special court on Monday and has been remanded in custody.
