A 22-year-old Oxford University student with leukaemia has died two days after marrying his girlfriend.
Matt Carver, 22, from Newport, passed away after his wedding to Nicola Godfrey last Thursday.
He was told he had acute myloid leukaemia in January, and his former school hosted a clinic to encourage donors to come forward.
But his condition deteriorated shortly after his wedding and he died on Saturday.
Mr Carver had worked with the Anthony Nolan Trust to arrange a bone marrow clinic in his old school in April.
He found out he had acute myloid leukaemia in January soon after becoming engaged.
His mother and widow noticed he had a cut on his hand which would not stop bleeding and he had numerous bruises on his leg.
Following tests he was diagnosed with cancer.
Mr Carver, who was studying for a masters in medieval history at Brasenose College, organised the clinic at Gaer Junior School in the hoping of finding bone marrow donors.
Karen Archer, recruitment manager for the charity described Mr Carver as an "amazing guy".
"He helped raise awareness for others who were also in his position," she said.
"He had incredible fight. It's so sad, and very hard to put it into words about how upset we feel.
"He'd done such a lot for the Anthony Nolan Trust. He was talking to the media about the requirements of leukaemia patients and the need for donors to come forward.
"And he wasn't doing it for himself as he was always thinking about the bigger picture, which was incredible considering his own situation."
