Arrest after woman goes missing

Police are concerned Francaelle Rosser left her car at the pub

Police investigating the disappearance of a woman have arrested a man and are searching woodland near a pub where she was last seen.

Francaelle Rosser, 60, of Ton Pentre, Rhondda, was believed to have been meeting a male friend at the Fox and Hounds in Bridgend on Saturday night.

Her family raised the alarm when she failed to go home or to work and her car was found parked at the pub.

South Wales Police say they urgently need to ensure she is safe.

Ms Rosser, known as Fran and from Ton Pentre, was last seen at about 2130 GMT on Saturday in the pub, in the Blackmill area.

A total of 25 police officers are involved, with some searching woods around the pub and examining Ms Rosser's red Fiat Bravo. Mountain rescue teams are also involved.

Concerns growing

Ch Supt Jeff Farrar of South Wales Police said: "Ms Rosser has not been seen or contacted her family since she left to go to the pub on Saturday evening and this is completely out of character.

"Her car was left at the pub and there has been no sign of her. There may be a simple explanation for this, but as time goes on our concerns are growing considerably.

"If Ms Rosser sees this appeal we would urge her to contact us or her family and let us know she is safe and well."

Police said there was no suggestion at this time that the man she was meeting was a blind date or someone she had met on the internet.

There has been a suggestion that she had met him a couple of times previously, but detectives do not know for certain if that is the case.

She is white, with shoulder-length blonde hair, of slim build with blue eyes.

She is thought to have been wearing a black and white, spotted top, black cardigan, calf length black skirt and black shoes, and was carrying a black clutch bag with a silver buckle.
