Prisoner missing from open jail
Christopher Joseph
Christopher Joseph was convicted of driving offences
A search is underway for a prisoner, who absconded from an open jail and who police say could be a "risk to the public".

Christopher Joseph, 26, went missing from Prescoed jail in Usk, Monmouthshire, on Wednesday.

Joseph is described as 5ft 6ins (1.7m) tall, small build, with short brown hair, brown eyes and a pale complexion.

Police warned people not to approach Joseph, who was convicted of driving offences at Swansea Crown Court.

Joseph was one of two men who escaped from the prison on Wednesday.

The other prisoner, a 22-year-old man, was recaptured shortly afterwards.

Police are appealing for information about Joseph.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "It's believed there may be a potential risk to the public due to the fact that the individual is no longer in the custody of the prison service."

Members of the public are advised not to approach Joseph, but to call Gwent Police on 01633 838111.
