Holiday death suspect identified
Jon Hiles

Authorities in Greece have identified a suspect in the death of a 18-year-old holidaymaker after he was punched and fell from a nightclub stage.

Jon Hiles, from Cardiff, was on the first night of his holiday when he was hit and fell 6ft (1.8m).

He suffered head injuries and died in hospital in Athens two days later.

Police on Zakynthos - also known as Zante - have identified a suspect and a European arrest warrant is being considered by magistrates in Athens.

South Wales Police are helping the authorities in Greece, where a manslaughter investigation was launched.

He had just completed his studies at Coleg Glan Hafren in Cardiff, and was a top ice and roller hockey player.

As well as being a member of the junior Cardiff Devils ice hockey team, he played roller hockey with both a puck and a ball across three different leagues.

He was from the Llandaff North area of Cardiff, and had represented Great Britain at competitions in Detroit, USA, and in Switzerland.

His parents Denzil and Peryn, girlfriend Clare Ursell and her brother, Josh Ursell, a close friend, were at his bedside when he died.
