215 jobs go at electronics plant

Talks are taking place about the future of the plant
An electronics factory in Ebbw Vale is to close with the loss of 215 jobs.

Alan Rodge, MD of Woodhead Connectivity, has confirmed the firm will cease production in June 2008.

The company, based at Ebbw Vale Industrial Estate, Blaenau Gwent, has makes components for the electronics industry and opened in 1973.

Molex took over the plant in August and the closure of the factory follows the parent company's announcement of a "rationalisation" programme in May.
