Two armed raiders who broke into a home, and handcuffed the occupants before stealing a large amount of cash are being hunted by detectives.
The men broke into a property in Ridgeway Road in Rumney, Cardiff during the early evening on Saturday.
Four people inside the house were forced to lie on the floor while the intruders searched through the property.
Police were called to the scene but the men had made off by the time they arrived.
Detective Inspector Debbie Cooper, who is leading the inquiry, said the family of four were 'shaken' by the experience.
"It was a very terrifying experience for the family," she said.
"All four, a couple and their two grown up daughters, were handcuffed during the attack.
"After the men left, they were able to go to their neighbous for help and call the police."
A team of 20 detectives are working on the case.
Despite a recent spate of armed robberies across south Wales, officers have not found any direct connection between this incident and others.
"The pattern of the attack is very different to the one used in recent armed robberies in south Wales but we are looking for any links," said DI Cooper.
South Wales Police have said that they want to trace a dark coloured car with a rear spoiler seen in the Rumney area of the city at the time.
They said the car they were looking for was seen in the area around 1830 GMT.
One of the men was described as being in his 40s or 50s, and had a stocky build. He had grey hair and a pointy nose was wearing a dark hat, square glasses, and a long grey overcoat.
His accomplice was aged between 20 and 30 and was overweight. He was wearing a baseball cap and dark blue tracksuit top.

Computer equipment
Meanwhile, detectives are also investigating a number of burglaries which were carried out in Cardiff city centre over the weekend.
Two office blocks within the Dominions Arcade Complex were targeted between the 6 and 7 December.
A large amount of computer equipment was stolen, including flat screen monitors made by Dell.
