Man dies while climbing Snowdon

A man has died 2,600ft up Snowdon while walking with a group.

The man, thought to be in his mid-fifties, became ill at Crib Goch on the 3,560ft peak and was tended to by a doctor but failed to respond.

Members of Llanberis mountain rescue team also climbed to the scene on Saturday afternoon to help.

The man, who was with a party from the Bedford area, was airlifted off the mountain by an RAF Sea King helicopter and flown to hospital at Bangor.
