Icy conditions delay ambulances

Ambulances taking people to routine hospital appointments are being delayed by the icy road conditions.

The Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust said the delays, mainly to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, were due to ice on the roads in Conwy and Denbighshire.

A spokeswoman said patients were being notified, and anyone with queries could call 0845 607 6181.

Meanwhile, in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, a van driver suffered minor injuries after overturning on black ice.

St Helen's Road, Caernarfon was closed followed the incident at 0720 GMT.

North Wales Police said they had contacted the council about the ice on the road.

Elsewhere the police said they were also dealing with an accident on the A525 at Cross Lane, Wrexham, after a tree fell, blocking the road.

A car is believed to have hit the tree just before 0630 GMT, but there were no injuries reported.

Diversions are in place as the tree is removed.
