The man was rescued without injury, police said

A teenager who was stunned with a Taser gun by police in order to rescue him from his burning home in Conwy has been remanded in custody.

Wayne Davies, 19, was armed with knives and barricaded himself into his house in Rhos-on-Sea before setting it alight in the early hours on Friday.

Police managed to save him from the blaze after using the stun gun on him.

He appeared briefly at a special court in Llandudno where magistrates remanded him on two charges.

Mr Davies is accused of arson with intent to endanger life and affray. No bail application was made and he will appear before Caernarfon Crown Court next Friday.

North Wales Police were called to Mr Davies' home at around 0100 BST on Friday where they found him barricaded into an upstairs bedroom.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze which did not damage any neighbouring properties.
