Man remanded on grooming charge
A 53-year-old man has been accused of sexually grooming a 14-year-old school girl from north Wales on the internet and travelling 200 miles to see her.

Gary Scuthings, from Leyton in east London, was remanded in custody at a special court in Llandudno on Saturday.

He faces three charges which include sexual grooming, sexual touching and meeting the girl with the intent an offence would be carried out.

He will reappear before the courts via a video link on Thursday.

It is alleged that Mr Scuthings met the schoolgirl on 2 September at Llandudno after grooming her on previous occasions, and that he sexually touched her on the same day.

It is also alleged that last Thursday, having sexually groomed the teenager, he travelled to Llandudno intending to meet her and commit an offence under the Sexual Offences Act.

Court chairman David Harrison remanded him in custody for reasons including the seriousness of the charges against him.
