Cigarette warning after home fire
Firefighters say two people were fortunate to emerge unscathed after a discarded cigarette started a blaze in an Anglesey house.

The fire badly damaged a rear bedroom and caused smoke damage to the upper floor of the house in Walthew Avenue, Holyhead, on Saturday morning.

Some firefighters wore breathing gear as the blaze was put out.

Fire safety officer Kevin Brain said smokers should make sure their cigarettes are entirely extinguished.

Mr Brain also urged people to avoid smoking in bedrooms.

"A smouldering cigarette can cause a lot of damage, as was the case in this incident," he said.

"The two people inside the property had a lucky escape."
