Llandudno magistrates court
The court heard the pedestrian broke his leg
An actor has been fined £600 after a hit-and-run collision in which an 83-year-old pedestrian was injured.

Trefor Selway, 74, of Eglwysbach, admitted failing to stop and not reporting the accident at Tyn y Groes near Conwy on 2 December 2005.

The radio, stage and screen actor received eight penalty points on his licence and must pay £55 costs.

Llandudno magistrates heard he panicked after the accident but regretted what had happened.

Pedestrian Leonard Sutcliffe's injuries included a broken leg, the court was told.

Mr Sutcliffe's border collie dog was also injured when Selway's van collided with them.

Selway, a former headmaster, had stopped momentarily but left the scene when other people arrived and later told police he had panicked.

Defence solicitor Gwyn Jones said he was sorry and regretted what happened.

Selway's 45-year-old son Owain, a former child star, died after a fire at his home at the end of last year.
