A 62-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital on Sunday after she was hit by a speed boat off the Lleyn Peninsula, north Wales.

Coastguards were alerted at about 1215 BST and an inshore lifeboat was sent to to the incident near Abersoch beach.

A Sea King helicopter was scrambled from RAF Valley on Anglesey so the woman, from Cheshire, could be winched from the water.

She was treated for cuts to her legs at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

The woman was reported to have been unconscious when the lifeboat crew arrived.

However, she had regained consciousness by the time she was winched aboard the helicopter.

Nobody else was hurt in the incident.
