'Percy' jumped in the van when he saw the two peahens
A stray peacock which turned up in a north Wales village has been found a new home.

"Percy" as he was dubbed, became a regular sight around Kinmel Bay, Conwy, in early January but residents were worried he would be run over if he was not moved.

When no owner came forward after widespread appeals Percy was offered a home with other peacocks in Powys.

Two peahens were used to persuade Percy - also known as Ashley - into the van.

Villager Pam Whitehouse led the hunt for 'Percy's' owner but when no-one came forward to claim him Mrs Whitehouse was happy a home with other peacocks was offered.

Ron Robinson, from Pant-y-Dwr near Rhayader, rounded up the stray peacock on Saturday.

Percy took a while to track down in one of the back gardens but in the end he was easy to catch.

"He jumped in the van as soon as he saw the peahens," said Mrs Whitehouse.

"He wasn't at all bothered about being in the van and took it all in his stride," she added.

Before he was caught "Percy" spent his time feeding in people's gardens in Ffordd Nant, Kinmel Bay using homes and cars as a perch.
