A 35-year-old musician has been killed after a collision with a car in Talybont, near Bangor.

North Wales Police said the accident happened close to Hendre Hall, on Aber Road, at about 0220 GMT on Friday.

Owain Huw Wright, from the Bethesda area, was a member of a Welsh duo.

The 29-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Astra car involved in the collision was questioned and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Wright was the lyricist and vocalist for a duo known as Rheinallt H Rowlands.

The duo had recorded sessions for Radio Cymru and produced music and videos for the Welsh language channel S4C.

They also composed the signature tune for the Radio Cymru programme Talwrn Y Beirdd.

In a tribute, Mr Wright's wife Jo said: "Owain, who was known to his friends as Oz, was a carpenter and musician.

"He was well-known and well-liked in the area. He'd been at a music event at Hendre Hall. He will be missed by his many friends."

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
