A driver died when a car collided with railings on a north Wales promenade and caught fire.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at Old Colwyn, Conway, around 1740 GMT on Christmas Day.
Officers said no-one else was involved in the collision and the driver, believed to be local, died at the scene.
Police were contacting relatives before releasing the driver's name.
Inspector Ian Jones, of North Wales Police, said the emergency services were called to a report of a serious road traffic collision, involving just one vehicle, on the promenade at Old Colwyn.
"The vehicle had left the road, collided with some perimeter railings, before coming to rest on the beach where it caught fire," he said.
"Tragically, the lone occupant, who is believed to be local, was pronounced dead at the scene."
Witness are asked to contact the central roads policing unit on 0845 6071002.
