Two people have been released after questioning about the murder of a woman, whose body was dumped in Snowdonia.

The man and a woman were arrested in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire on Wednesday by police investigating the death of Kathryn Lorraine Jones, 45.

Another man, 47, was arrested in Leeswood, near Mold before being released on police bail. Ms Jones' body was found last Saturday off the A4212 near Trawsfynydd.

The man and the woman arrested in Ellesmere Port on Tuesday appeared before magistrates in Northwich on Wednesday night and police were granted a further 36 hours to question them.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the victim in the seven days before her body was found in Cwm Prysor to contact them.

Police said she was known by many names - first names Kathy and Lorraine, and surnames Jones and Lowe - and she divided her time between Leeswood and Cheshire.

Officers have searched the arrested couple's house in Ellesmere Port, and further searches have been carried out in the Leeswood area.

On Wednesday, Ms Jones' family appealed for witnesses to come forward.

In a statement her uncle Tegwyn Langford read: "I have known Kathryn, or Lorraine as we know her, all her life and she was close to me, my wife and my sister.

"We spent a lot of time with her and have some lovely memories.

"She had a very good personality; she was a kind hearted individual and was very generous.

"Lorraine was liked by many people in the local community and will be sadly missed by all close family and friends.

"We are all devastated by the brutality of the attack which came as a real shock to us, and all that we hope for now is that the individual or individuals responsible will be caught and brought to justice."

Ms Jones' body was found by walkers in a remote area near Trawsfynydd.

She had suffered multiple head and body injuries. There was no evidence of sexual assault.

Police have said they believed she may have been murdered elsewhere and the body dumped some time between Wednesday and Saturday.

Neighbours in Leeswood - where she was known locally by her maiden name of Lorraine Low - said she had a teenage son.

Her father has a house in the village but is understood to be living in a residential home.
