Beryl Williams was a 'powerful actress' who could turn her hand to any part

Tributes have been paid to Welsh stage and TV actress Beryl Williams, who has died in hospital aged 67.
She appeared in numerous TV dramas but was perhaps better known for her stage performances, especially with Cwmni Theatr Cymru in the 1970's.
Miss Williams was winner of the first Welsh Bafta award in 1991 as best actress for the part of Nel in the TV drama of the same name.
In recent years she retired from acting in order to look after her elderly mother who died a few years ago.
Miss Williams, who died at Ysbyty Dolgellau, also appeared in the S4C series Minafon and the dramas Sul y Blodau and Problemau Prifysgol.
Actor Dyfan Roberts said: "There was no-one like her."
"She was the best actress I ever saw on stage, I came to know her when I joined Cwmni Theatr Cymru. She was a tall girl, regal and had red hair - there was a glamour around Beryl."
"She could do so many different characters, from the old lady Nel to one who could turn the world around her little finger. She was a powerful actress and she'll live forever in my memory."
Mr Roberts said that although she will be remembered for her TV appearances, she would be a big loss to the stage.
"She had her feet on the ground and always said there were much more important things than acting.
"It was a big loss to acting when she gave it up to look after her mother, but Beryl was like that."
