Police are appealing for witnesses in the fatal road collision

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man died in a crash in the Conwy Valley in the early hours of Friday.

The 33-year-old man from Llanrwst was killed in a collision on the A470 at Maenan, near Llanrwst.

He was a passenger in a black Mercedes convertible SLK being driven by another man, who is also from Llanrwst.

The driver was released from the vehicle by firemen, and was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but his injuries are not serious.

North Wales Police have said that want to trace a white van, possible a small flat-bed type travelling southbound at the time.

Firefighters were also called to the scene of an accident on the Pontrug road near Caeathro, near Caernarfon, at 4am where a car was on its roof.

A woman was taken to Bangor's Ysbyty Gwynedd.
