Entries to the festival include Simon Cowell and Winston Churchill

A Denbighshire town is staging its first ever scarecrow festival.

About 20 scarecrows are on show in gardens across Ruthin, with entries modelled on famous figures like Winston Churchill, Dr Who and Simon Cowell.

Tickets are being sold to people wishing to follow the scarecrow trail and complete a quiz along the route.

The festival runs until 22 May, and participants include the local police and fire service, shops, schools and a nursing home.
