The search for a woman who has been missing for more than a week has been suspended, North Wales Police say.

Pauline Annette Edwards, 68, from Buckley, Flintshire, was on holiday in Trefor, Gwynedd, when she was last seen at 1600 GMT on Friday, 5 February.

More than 200 people joined a search on Saturday, and police said they had now "exhausted all potential avenues".

Inspector Mark Armstrong said the situation was "still under review", and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Insp Armstrong added: "Search teams have now exhausted all potential avenues, and the searches have been suspended for the time being pending further information resulting from police inquiries.

"Despite thorough land and sea searches over the weekend we still have no clue as to Mrs Edwards' whereabouts.

Family appeal

"The situation is under constant review and we will continue to have a police presence in Trefor with officers conducting foot patrols around the village.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we are still appealing to anybody who may have seen Mrs Edwards, or a woman of a similar description to contact us."

Mrs Edwards' family has appealed for her to get in touch.

In a statement, her husband John and daughters Julie and Penny said: "Please come home or let us know you are safe and well.

"We all miss you dearly and love you very much."

Mrs Edwards is described as 5ft 2in (1.57m), slim, with collar length straight brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a black coat with a fur collar, three-quarter length black trousers and black boots.
