Business week 'vital' in downturn

Different venues across Wrexham will host the week's events

Businesses and entrepreneurs in north Wales will be able to access a week of help and advice to develop their company or products.

The eighth Wrexham Business Week is offering more than 60 workshops across the borough to local enterprises.

The organisers said supporting the local economy was "more vital than ever" during a recession.

The week began with a launch event hosted by BBC presenter Sian Lloyd and stockbroker Justin Urquhart Stewart.

The week is run by the local council's economic development department.

Rodney Skelland, Wrexham's cabinet member for corporate governance and regeneration, said: "Wrexham Business Week has historically attracted delegates from across Wales and North West England, as well as from the local area, and the week provides an opportunity for business people to network and form new partnerships.

"Wrexham Business Week highlights Wrexham's role as the driver of the north Wales economy and I am delighted that our partners have once again supported Wrexham council, enabling us to stage the event."

The week is a mixture of paid for and free events.

Some of the subject areas include marketing, HR, interview techniques for employers, disability awareness and using social network sites to promote businesses.

Wrexham Business Week runs until Friday 20 November.
