Rural warehouse plans turned down

Plans for a major warehouse development have been refused by Wrexham council.

Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd submitted two applications in a £100m plan which it said could create hundreds of jobs on Wrexham's Industrial Estate.

Permission for warehouses spread over 93,700 sq m (1m sq ft) was refused, while plans for smaller industrial units received the go-ahead.

A report recommended the warehouses for refusal because, among other reasons, the site is within open countryside.

Councillors were also told the proposed site falls into an area which has been allocated for a "major single user employer", whereas the application was for two separate users.

Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd had urged councillors to back the plans, claiming the town needed investment given the "deep economic recession and the worrying loss of jobs in Wrexham recently".
