Man admits strangling his partner

Mold Crown Court
Shaun Lewis was remanded for later sentence at Mold Crown Court

A 38-year-old man has admitted murdering his partner at their Flintshire flat following an argument.

At Mold Crown Court Shaun Lewis pleaded guilty to strangling Lee Armstrong, 27, at their home in Perrin Walk, Flint.

Andrew Roberston, defending, told Judge John Rogers that Lewis wanted to be sentenced immediately.

But the judge apologised and said due to the number of cases to be dealt with that was not possible, and remanded Lewis in custody for sentence in July.

After killing Mr Armstrong on 20 April, Lewis called the Samaritans and North Wales Police and admitted what he had done.

At the time of the murder, a tribute was paid to the victim by his mother Barbara Armstrong.

In a statement she said: "My beautiful, beautiful son, light of my life. The most caring, loving son any mother could wish for."

She said he was thoughtful and helped so many people.

He was described as a treasure to his mother and a wonderful brother to Tony and his other brothers. "They were very close and Tony thought the world of him," she said.

He will be sadly missed by everyone and loved forever and a day.

Mr Armstrong worked in an antique shop in Chester and travelled around the country buying and selling.

He enjoyed walking, especially up Snowdon, and loved.

"The family are devastated by their loss," she said.
