Council's tribute to 'true gent'

The council extended its sympathies to Tom Parry's family

A former head teacher and chair of Denbighshire Council has died.

The council has paid tribute to Tom Parry, from Prestatyn, who represented Prestatyn Central from 1995 until he retired in 2004.

Mr Parry, who died at St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph, was also a Liverpool FC supporter and a former scout for the club.

Current council chair Ken Hawkins said Mr Parry was a "true gentleman and gave distinguished public service".

Mr Parry had chaired the council's education committee and was chair of the council in 2003/2004.

Mr Hawkins said: "On behalf of the council and its staff, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Tom's family on their loss.
