£4m 'office village' is approved

Plans for a £4.25m "office village" which it is claimed could create up to 140 jobs in Flint have been approved.

Flintshire Council gave the go-ahead to the scheme to transform 1.4 acres of derelict land off Aber Road.

Prospect (GB), the company behind the development, hopes it will attract investment and employment from small to medium-sized businesses.

Construction of the nine office units should start this summer in the hope they will be completed next spring.

Chris Heath, Prospect's managing director, said he was "absolutely delighted" the plans had been approved.

He said: "The office village will be an important ingredient in Flint's continuing regeneration and significantly contribute to the growing local economy.

'Catalyst'

"It's a worthwhile time to be investing in Flint because of the £1.1m revamp of the town centre through the Townscape Heritage Initiative.

"The initiative is expected to be the catalyst for investment and boost the existing regeneration of Flint railway station, the Castle Park Industrial Estate and the Dee Cycle Path."

Each of the nine office units will be between 1,571 sq ft (146 sq m) and 4,348 sq ft (404 sq m).
