Kickboxer, 18, dies in collision

An 18-year-old kickboxer and rugby player has been named as the car driver killed in a collision with a coach.

Aaron Dixon died in the collision on the A5 between Corwen and Llangollen, Denbighshire, on Saturday afternoon.

Three other people in the car were treated for minor injuries. The Daily Post newspaper said they included his younger brother Anton.

In a tribute, his family said he was much-loved and "a talented kickboxer who loved playing rugby for Corwen".

Mr Dixon, who worked as a builder, was described as "very popular and had many friends".

In a statement, his family said: "He was a much-loved son of Gail and Tony, grandson of Sandra and David, brother to Anna, Marky and Anton, uncle to Elise and much-loved boyfriend of Lowri".

Practising techniques

Mr Dixon trained in kickboxing with former world champion Russ Williams, at Caerwys in Flintshire.

Mr Williams also paid tribute to him.

He said:"He's been training with me for about a year and a half - him and his brother and they're such friendly lads - especially Aaron, {who}always had a smile on his face.

"He was just so keen on the sport.

"When the class finished they'd always be carrying on practising techniques, and he was doing really well in the sport," Mr Williams added.
