Quarry's landfill plans revealed
Parry's Quarry
Plans have been submitted to use the quarry for landfill
Plans for a landfill site in Flintshire which could take up to 100,000 tonnes of waste have been unveiled.

Construction firm Robin Jones and Sons wants to create a tip at Parry's Quarry at Altami, near Buckley, despite opposition from local residents.

The company already carries out waste recycling at the site.

Plans have been submitted to Flintshire Council. If approved, the landfill would take over from the Brookhill site a mile away, which shuts next year.

Local resident John Iball has lived in Buckley Road for more than 40 years and can see Brookhill from his home. He will also be able to see the new one, if and when it is opened.

He said: "For the past three decades we have had landfill sites within a mile of our home."

He said the site would bring "all the attendant problems."

Gregg Robins, contracts manager with Robin Jones and Sons, confirmed the application was to carry domestic and commercial waste.

He added: "It will mean that Flintshire Council taxpayers will avoid the extra cost of waste being taken to landfills outside the county."
