Suspect escapes from police car
Brymbo
Brymbo is a small village on the outskirts of Wrexham
A major search has been launched for a man who fled from a police car while he was being taken into custody.

Two men had been arrested by police investigating the attempted robbery of a post office in Brymbo near Wrexham.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of stealing a car which was spotted near the scene of the incident.

The force helicopter and police officers with a sniffer dog were searching the nearby village of Coedpoeth for the man.

Police were called to the post office in Brymbo shortly after 0900GMT on Monday.

Two masked suspects entered the premises and it is believed one was armed with a handgun.

The pair fled empty-handed but a red car was spotted near the scene and a short while later police stopped it, and arrested the two men inside.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: "As they were being conveyed to custody one man escaped in the Coedpoeth area.

"One man remains in custody," she added.
