Pollution worry in River Dee
River Dee
An investigation into the pollution is at an early stage
The Environment Agency is investigating after discoloured water is found in the River Dee near Corwen.

There are no reports of any dead fish.

The cause of the pollution is not yet known, but work is being carried out by agency contractors further up the river, a spokesman said.

However he added the work was close to Bala nearly nine miles away and no connection was being made at present.

He added it was difficult to say how serious the incident was at the moment, but investigations were continuing.

The contractors are carrying out improvements to an Environment Agency gauging station, which monitors the flow of river water, near the Bala sluice gates.
