Businesses have been targeted by bogus callers

Businesses are being warned about a telephone scam which involves a bogus caller trying to sell advertising for a national police magazine.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they had received complaints from a number of companies.

Officers said as well as impersonating an employee from a police magazine, the caller also asked for company bank details to pay for advertising space.

People with information about the scam can contact police on 101.

Ch Insp Chris Curtis of Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We are urging members of the business community in Powys to be vigilant following this telephone scam.

"Please stop and think carefully before sending any money or giving your personal details in these sort of circumstances, and remember, if it looks too good to be true then it probably is."
