Sainsbury's has 504 supermarkets and 319 convenience stores

A supermarket chain is creating 35 new jobs with a new store in Lampeter.

Sainsbury's has extensively refurbished the former Somerfield supermarket in Market Street.

It will be officially opened on Wednesday by long-serving staff member Anthea Rowcliffe who has worked at the site for more than 13 years.

Sainsbury's said following the refit the new store had a bakery, a cash machine and some self-service checkouts.

Store manager Darren Cooper said the company would be supporting local organisations including the town's chamber orchestra and rugby team.

"We're proud of our new store but the best part of opening is getting to know the local community," he said.

"It's been great meeting new people and we're looking forward to making a positive difference here."
