A charity endurance challenge organised by Dyfed-Powys Police in the Brecon Beacons has raised £20,000 for Wales Air Ambulance.

More than 50 teams took part in the event, which required them to navigate 25 miles (40km) of terrain in one day.

The winners, called Multisport, finished the course in three hours, 45 minutes. They were followed by a team from the Gurkhas.

It was the inaugural Brecon Beacons Wales Air Ambulance Team 4 Challenge.

The event was the idea of Pc Gary Philpott, who spent six months organising it with help from his colleagues Pcs Mark Doran and Andy Pole.

Pc Philpott said: "This was a fantastic event, which exceeded all our expectations especially in regards to teams involved and money raised.

"It was an ideal opportunity for all of our services to work together in aid of this very much needed service within our community."

Among the teams taking part were the Army, police, fire and ambulance services, along with members of the community.
