Dog mess in play area is targeted

A council is to monitor a small piece of land used by parents and children following complaints dog owners were not cleaning up after their pets.

The former bowling green in North Road, Aberystwyth, is an unofficial play area for children.

But parents have complained that the patch of land is littered with dog mess.

Local county councillor Carl Williams said the area would be monitored by Ceredigion council staff.

On behalf of a families in the area, parent Christopher Vranek said he wanted warning signs and disposal bins erected.

But Councillor Williams said the plot of land had recently been leased to the town council, and he had written to the town clerk about the problem.

"Regarding the dog issue on this plot I have this week consulted with the relevant department within Ceredigion County Council and I have been advised and assured that this area is now to be monitored," he added.
