Two people killed in a two-car road crash in mid Wales last week were from County Durham, say police.

David Hall, 68, and his 64-year-old wife Ivy, from Darlington, died when their car overturned following a collision with another car.

The crash occurred at a crossroads in the village of Aberhafesp, near Newtown, Powys, on 11 September.

A third person was seriously injured in the collision and was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Mr and Mrs Hall were travelling in a Nissan Micra car.

Fire crews worked for nearly two hours to free one of the casualties trapped in the overturned vehicle.

The collision happened at the junction of the B4568 and the B4569 in the village of Aberhafesp.
